Hiring Them Isn't a Move, It's the Start of a Lawsuit.

If I could give zero stars, I would. Choosing EARTHRELO has been the single worst consumer experience of my life. This isn't just a bad moving company; their conduct is a masterclass in negligence and bad faith that has forced me to pursue legal action.

The nightmare began with a 1.5-month delay, during which my possessions were essentially lost in a void of incompetence. They subcontract their work, meaning the people who show up have zero accountability. In a shocking display of unprofessionalism, their subcontracted workers literally ABANDONED the job mid-delivery, leaving my home in chaos.

But it gets worse. They have lost essential parts for my furniture, rendering valuable pieces useless and causing significant financial and emotional distress. They refuse to take any responsibility for the extensive damages.

Most disturbingly, they are unlawfully retaining some of my personal property, which appears to be a tactic to intimidate customers and shield themselves from the consequences of their actions. This isn't just a breach of contract; it's a flagrant violation of carrier liability laws like the Carmack Amendment and state consumer protection statutes.

Do not be fooled by their website. You are not hiring a "Best Moving Company." You are hiring a future defendant. Save your money, your time, and your sanity. Run, do not walk, away from EARTHRELO.

Worst shippers ever.

I have moved all over the world and have never experienced such unprofessionalism from a shipping company. The men were lazy and packed badly, Furniture was vandalized and willfully broken. An hour after I was due to leave for the airport, I was still overseeing my belongings being packed. Instead of unhooking the bed joints, a very simple process, the men violently bed solid brass brackets to wrap two separate parts together. As a result, my wife and I had to sleep on the floor while we tried to find replacements. The company claimed it had happened "in transit". Inventory was a also joke - the list stopped at 129 boxes. When they arrived some were numbered in the 300's. Many numbers were duplicated and almost none of the listed contents matched the actual contents, making the delivery of my goods a long and painful process. The after service was even worse - no attempt to apologize or rectify the situation or accept responsibility. Despite the emotional stress caused, the time spent repairing or replacing damaged items and all the problems caused, the company's response has been either silence or to tell me it was my fault. I have had to pay an extra $5,000 because of Earth Relocation's poor work - again with not so much as an apology from the company.

Official company response

Ms. Tinnie and Mr. Mike,

The comments you have in your review above are totally fake and irrelevant. We would like to alert all our clients about this review posted that it is totally baseless and we can vouch on it. We have been very responsive to all your concerns thus far. Each of your email received more than one response as it is documented and logged in your file. For example, to your notification of missing items via email received at 8:37 AM today I.e. March 6th, 2013, you have received 2 emails from our office at 9:32 AM, 9:37 AM EST to which you also replied, so you acknowledged receipt of our emails too. Therefore your number one claim of us not being responsive is totally false! To add, since you were clearly advised to take a 40 FT container by both your coordinator as well as your surveyor, Earth Relocation cannot be held accountable for your mistakes and wrong decisions taken by you and your husband of shipping all the goods only in a 20 Feet container to save money allocated by your employer and keep the extra cash. You are totally responsible for jeopardizing your move by not following the advice given by your coordinator. We were as transparent as we could have been and also shared the survey results with you unlike other moving companies.

Further, I would ask you to refrain from maligning our company's image in this fashion based on baseless claims. Clients like you have a "myway or the highway attitude". Not only you and your husband demanded compensation from our company which was unethical and extortioning but also threatened to post bad reviews if we did not do so. Our attorney is already involved in this matter and shall report your abusive review to not only this review website but also will take legal action if needed against you and your husband. We would like to also mention that when we tried to resolve the issues you guys had with the packing services, your husband clearly tried to claim the entire move cost in return of not posting any review online. Since you have already made this issue public, may I ask you a million dollar question, Why you chose to ship the goods in a 20 Feet Container when our initial quotation and survey results, both which were shared with you clearly were based on a 40 Feet Container. Regarding the missing items, we have proactively responded to you about insurance procedures and we are also searching our warehouse for those items. It is possible that things may have went missing at destination while customs inspections of your container or at the deconsolidator's warehouse, we are checking it with all parties. Finally we would like to confirm that the items you have received don't belong to any of our clients and are surely belonging to a client of our destination partner since our warehouse has an electronic in and out system which makes it impossible for the items to get lost or missing.

If you still feel that you would like to discuss this situation with our office, please contact us and we will be still glad to assist you in any way we can.

Best regards,

Earth Relocation Mgmt.

Satisfied by Earth Relocation's Service.

My wife found Earth Relocation on Google and she received a quote for our move to Antibes, France along with 2 other quotes we compared from movers in New York. We returned to France after my 28 months project in NYC. We moved a 20 Feet container through Earth Relocation. Actually we finalized a different moving company in NY looking at their online reviews but the company asked us to change the move date 2 days prior to the pack date. They gave us a lot of hard time for us to even get our deposit back, beware of such companies. Earth Relocation came to our rescue at last minute and accomodated us at such short notice. They were busy and therefore they could only send their crew around 2 PM on our move day. They packed and finished the job on second day after everything was done nicely. Our final invoice was within estimate which helped as we had a budget given by my employer. The communication sometimes took a bit longer but everything else went ok and promptly. Goods were received in the estimated time frame and overall we were satisfied with what we paid for.  Thanks, TA.

Earth Relocation.

This is my review for Earth Relocation. 1-Prompt. Earth relocation is very prompt. Starting from the survey of the house to actual  pick up & to ultimate delivery.I had almost zero waiting time in all the above instances. 2-Communication. Earth reloc scores high points on communication as well. I was called before pick up & also informed well in advance for delivery. 3-Documentation: Documentation is very clear & crisp. No surprises at the end of the move 4-Breakage: I had taken transit insurance just to be careful but there was no breakage of any kind. I got all my goods in satisfactory condition. 5-Flexible: I had to store my goods for a couple of days. Earth reloc was flexible enough to provide free storage for 30 days & shipped on confirmation. 6-People: All the folks involved in the move were very professional & cordial at the same time. Due care was taken to pack & ship the goods. Earth reloc is a no hassle mover. They are professional , communicative & very efficient. There could be some noise on price/premium that you may need to pay but it worth the quality & peace of mind. 2 thumbs up!!

The Worst Moving Company Bar None.

Not only did the estimate given was 30% OFF what they told us, our things were packed so badly, we wished we did it ourselves. We had damages that could have been avoided if some thought had been put into the process.  And now after the second shipment has arrived which happened 3 months after we moved, we find our things (artwork included) missing and a mystery box (someone's sofa cover and tv stand) in its place! Have not heard from anyone from Earth Relocations as of yet, the lack of customer service is shocking. This company is horrendous.. I urge people to pay more for a trusted moving company and not be swayed by a lower estimate, which is a LIE.  .

We would like to thank Earth Relocation..

Once we contacted them, our goods were packed and moved within a week's time from our home. All paperwork was done upfront for clearance of goods in Canada and we had to go to customs terminal in Montreal as indicated in advance by our moving consultant. Everything was arranged as planned and our door to door moving was completed in 6 business days. Other companies we were contacted by were giving transit times of 2-3 weeks and one company in New York even mentioned one month in transit time. It was peak moving season and we were not getting clarity on pickup and delivery time frames from other folks and this was very critical for us as the job I started in Canada had a dedicated day and we wanted to setup our new apartment in advance. In any case, all went well and the cost of the move was not exorbitant either. So I am doing my due diligence by sharing my experience and would like to give full marks to ER.

Overpriced and underserved.

We were given a quote of $4700 based on our recent previous move, the weight, amount of furniture, etc. When your movers arrived, they looked at all we had. If we had more stuff than they thought, that would have been the time for them to stop what they were doing and let us know that and give us an ACCURATE quote. They even said before they took anything out that they would have to make two trips. They didn't say a word about the price being more. If there was any question about it, we should have been told right then and there when we could say no. They said nothing and they packed us. Two weeks later they held our belongings hostage and charged us almost $11,000. We could not say no, they had our things. That is NOT INFORMED CONSENT. That is tantamount to fraud. We were not informed of what was going on. We were mislead many times. We were ignored for days. We called, we emailed. NO response. Our things finally arrived a week later than we were expecting it. When we finally got our stuff, we called and wrote and complained that we understand the final bill might have gone up a bit, but by more than double? From $4700 to $11,000? That is breach of contract. We would have never agreed to this, and we would have gone to another mover. We were not given the choice to say no. We have a 2 bedroom apartment. For $11000 I could have completely refurnished our home. We have expressed our concerns and we are being ignored. Bait and switch. They had the opportunity to amend your quote, and you waited until you had our things in transit and we could not say no. .

EXTREMELY FALSE AND MISLEADING REVIEW!!

Now being that said, we would like to provide very minute details of your dealings with us so that our future clients can understand what transpired in your move and what lead to your bitter experience. Ms. Collante, we at ER take ultimate pride in the quality of our services, strong customer support and goodwill that we have earned thus far by serving our clients which is very well noticeable on this website through other reviews written by our existing customers. Most of our clients are referred to us by our precious customers and that can only happen through good services that we have provided thus far. However, the moving business is very challenging and every move is very different. We as an international moving company educate our clients and try to impart as much information as possible to smoothen their move however a successful move can only be achieved, if both parties are very transparent in sharing all info honestly. You have complained primarily about the move cost inflated and the delay in delivery of your goods. Therefore we would like to once again provide an entire gist of events of what transpired in your move.

12/3/2013 - We submitted our initial quote to you.

12/3/2013 - You reverted to us and provided us a survey sheet from other company reflecting a higher volume than our quote.

12/9/2013 - We provided you revised quote based on the survey sheet provided by you from another company. We also suggested you doing a survey many times however you said did not let us arrange the same as you were confident about the volume estimated from your previous move and it was from Feb 2013 whereas your move happened with us in December 2013. You may have added several items from your previous move which you did not disclose to us.

12/17/2013 - You signed our contract based on the latest quote we provided to you which as based on the estimated volume determined by your survey sheet. You were then going back and forth about the move date which was requested as Dec 23rd, then Dec 24th and finally requested the move to happen on Dec 26, 2013. At short notice, we kept changing and accommodating your requests in regards to the move date. Note that your move took place during the holiday period when most of the transportation companies were closed.

12/26/2013 - Move Date. On the move day, our crew notified about a much higher volume at your home and they even notified you about it. Our office sent you several emails on the move day notifying you about the higher volume and you acknowledged the same and let our crew pickup all the goods. Our foreman also informed you that we will not be able to move all the furniture out in one trip and will have to come back with the moving truck to pickup the excess volume. Due to the misinformation provided by you, our crew ended up working long hours and even though it was a short week, other moves that were planned for our crew were delayed due to the excess volume they had to pack at your home. Regardless, we as a moving company did all the right things and kept you well informed on the increased volume of the goods and its effect on your move cost. You could have avoided all this by letting us survey the goods in advance. As someone who had moved frequently and just recently, this shouldn't have been the case.

12/27-2013 - We updated you on final estimated volume of the goods.

12/30/2013- We emailed you the crated dims and notified you about the revised and final charges applicable to the shipment.

12/30/2013 - We again sent you an email if we have your green light to proceed with shipping the goods as the cost was much higher than what had been in our quote and you acknowledged your understanding in that matter and asked us to proceed with shipping of the goods.

12/30/2013 - We then started arranging for the goods to be moved to destination based on your conformation and also out of courtesy gave you a handsome discount of about 5% on the balance charges.

1/2/2014 - You paid for our services and we then made arrangements to move the goods to Canada.

1/16/2014 - Your goods were delivered to your home in good order. We estimated 14 business days for door to door services and you received them in less than 14 business days from the day you paid for our services.

To summarize, we delivered your goods in record time even though your goods were packed during the biggest holiday period of the year and delays from your side on payment of our services. However, all said and done, we do value your business and its not favorable to us for our clients to be unhappy in such fashion. We therefore ask you to review above comments logically and contact our office as we strive to assist you further in any way we can.

Best regards,

ER Management.

We certify Earth Relocation!

Used this company's service to move from Cyprus to New York as recommended by one of our friends who moved with them from Boston to Nicosia.

Overall performance was decent, door to door service was completed within the budget provided by them and transit time ended up being one week over what was estimated. We were not stressed with delay of one week as we were staying in extended stay in NYC. Our rep was very upfront and never provided misleading info and did not promise more than what could have been realistically delivered. Will use them again due to this smooth move and honest service.

Good luck,

Bait and Switch.

Beware of Earth Relocation and all the "positive reviews".  these are staged reviews in my opinion because my experience was NOTHING like what you read in their FB page and online testimonials.  I'm a real person with a real experience with Earth.  I would not recommend these people to my worst enemy.  Where do I start..1)  Classic bait and switch.  Samir Shah our sales guy blatantly underestimated our move to get the contract.  2) Forced our shipment into 2 separate batches which exceeded our estimate by 20%. 3) Even the packers for Earth could not believe that Samir had underestimated so drastically.  4) Shipping agent at destination told us that Earth did not provide them with any information on the second shipment so it sat at the port for 10days until I chased up on it.  5)  Samir is completely unresponsive via either email nor phone when it come to any issues.  He would rather screen your calls and avoid issues rather then work with you to resolve.  6)Dishonest:  told us that if we paid out of our own account he would give us a discount rather than giving the same discount to a corporate move.  HR departments be aware!    In short,  the worst moving experience of our lives and I have made many of international moves to make this assessment.  I hope this posting will save at least a few people from making the same mistake we made by working with Samir and Earth. .

Official company response

Dear Client,

First of all we are very apologetic to learn about your experience with our company. At Earth Relocation, client’s satisfaction is the top priority for us and therefore it is very disheartening to read your comments as posted above. In our company, we take client’s feedback very seriously as customer reviews play a very important role for any business these days and helps prospective clients to decide whether they should use the services of a particular company or not. This is the beauty of social media but it also equally puts a lot of responsibility on client’s shoulders to report their experience based on facts and not just based on personal vendetta or any kind of misunderstanding of the company’s contract which they have rightfully read, agreed and signed. We understand that in an international move there is lot of emotional and mental stress and anxiety involved as people hand over their lifetime of prized possessions to a moving company and rely on the company to do its part well. Your comments also may have been caused due to similar situation which is totally understandable.

It was therefore very important for us to research this matter in depth, analyze all the facts, email and call logs and portray a very transparent picture of the facts and events occurred in context of your move so readers can refer both sides of the coin and make their decision accordingly. We are responding below to all your points in the order they have been reported by yourselves:

1. We disagree – Mr. Shah is one of our most experienced sales person and have been doing in home surveys for several years. Earth Relocation only hires experts in their field which results in a high quality end result. Mr. Shah is also an expert in his estimation but since personal effects comprises of various shape and sizes and its not exact science and we always mention this to clients at the time of survey that the final volume can result in an increase of up to 10% of the estimated volume. Additionally your contract was for a 40 FT container and we rendered our services as stipulated in our contract with you. Our crew loaded the goods to the best of their efficiency and since you had a luxury vehicle co-loaded with your personal effects and you were extremely nervous about it, we wanted to make sure that we can load the goods in such a way which would not cause any damages to your vehicle. As per our normal procedure, we blocked the goods very with wood planks and then blocked the vehicle safely. It was also noted from the packing list that you added many items which were declared to be discarded at the time of pre-move survey.

2. We disagree – Since more items were added than surveyed, it seemed that you were undecided at the time of the survey and wanted to either sell those goods, however due to shortage of time it did not happen and you decided on shipping the same. This was found out after we compared each and every article from your survey list to the actual packing list. This showed that you went over the allowance your company had agreed to pay and it resulted in excess shipping charges to you. The container was loaded in your presence and it was obvious that those goods needed to be shipped separately. It was totally a separate move and had to be re-quoted to you. This was also explained to you prior to departure of our crew from your residence on Sep 24th and only upon receiving your approval, we took the goods to our warehouse.

3. We disagree – As per our company policy; our packers receive a copy of the survey sheet before they are dispatched to any packing site. Since our packers are very well experienced in the International Standard Packing Services of personal effects, they are well aware that the exact volume can only be determined upon containerizing the goods and would never make such a comment especially when they knew that the left over portions is less than 10% of the goods that were loaded in master container. Our packers are very courteous and professional and it is their top priority to ensure that they follow all instructions provided by the client. The foreman on your move was interrogated and he mentioned that after very tightly loading the goods, only a small portion was left behind which they took carefully to the warehouse. Another proof of their fine packing service was that there was no loss or breakages reported by you and this was only possible due to excellent packing services provided by our crew.

4. We disagree – since we knew how time sensitive your shipment was and also due to the fact that you had additional smaller shipment, our OPS team tried their best to get both the shipments, your container and smaller load on the same vessel. This was commendable on their part and they made it happen. Your container departed on Oct 1st per the bill of lading and on Oct 2nd, our OPS team sent out the pre-alert with all documents to our destination agent. You are aware of this as the agent even contacted you right away notifying about them clearing your goods. Earth Relocation only works with the best moving companies worldwide and so we did in your case. Your shipment arrived port of Rotterdam on Oct 15th and the goods were delivered to your home on Oct 19th per the delivery reports.

5. We disagree – After checking the call logs and email logs again, we found that your emails were answered on the same day as received by our office. Mr. Shah sent you 2 emails daily from Oct 16 through 25th and took several of your nervous phone calls and assured you numerously that everything was under control. Mr. Shah knew what kind of client you are and valued your business very much and therefore he even provided his personal cell number to you just in case. There were several phone calls received by Mr. Shah on Oct 11th and 12th repeatedly. Mr. Shah was in a business conference and he even took your call to assure you that everything was on track. Our office also provided you all the details so I wonder why you are claiming falsely that your calls were not answered. We are also including a transcript of one such email exchanged between Mr. Shah and yourselves:

Above emails clearly show what kind of a nervous person you are. Regardless, our company and its employees always answered all your concerns in a timely manner and did the needful.

6. These comments are totally unacceptable – Earth Relocation engages in lot of business with corporates and has a very clear and transparent practice. Based on the emails exchanged between yourselves, our office and your company’s HR dept., we even tried to explain your HR department the reason for excess volume. They very well understood it and decided not to pay for the same as per their relocation policy and declined to pay you for the same. You then pleaded to our management and your sales person to include a higher discount to you. It can be clearly seen in below email transcript that you requested a better rate since you were paying from your own pocket:

We are writing a detailed response so that we can clearly display the facts rather than what you have reported wrongfully as you had to pay for some portion personally. An international move involves several entities and challenges and sometimes the end result may not be as desired, however all parties offer their best. We offered our best and timely delivered both lots of your move in a record one moth’s timeframe. We are therefore saddened that you never insisted on discussing your grievances with our office which would have given us a better chance to understand your position and offer some sort of resolution. Bad experience with Earth Relocation.

I have moved from NY to France and was not satisfied with Earth Relocation. I insisted that I wanted an all in quotation so there would be no hidden cost. It turned out that all in all I had to pay an extra 20% but there's worse: they called me the day before the actual delivery saying that if I didn't pay what they asked for I wouldn't get my things at all! Now blackmail is not exactly the way to do good business..They finally had to give up that extra bill probably realizing how angry I was at them. what happened is as I moved to France I didn't know what my address  would be until I actually found a place to live and they charged me storage cost; they argued I didn't tell them, it really sounded they had very little experience in international move. Furthermore many pieces of furniture were damaged in the move, and with their franchise system, I didn't get any $ back though I had paid an extra 500$ for insurance. Overall very disappointing.

Official company response

Dear Mr. Kerbrat,

Thanks for posting your feedback about our services on this site. I am sorry that you were in the situation where you had to pay for port storage charges in France. But we would like to share with our clients below points which will clarify the facts involved in your move:

1. We did provide you an all in cost which was based on our contract with you.

We did not charge you for any additonal costs related to your relocation.

2. Charges paid by you were due to the reason that you were not ready to accept delivery in France. Your container was held at port due to non acceptance of goods from your side. Port demurrage and warehouse handling in/out was not part of our service, imagine you could have not been ready to accept your shipment for months, ports do not offer any free storage which was made clear to you in our quote and contract.

3. I understand that you were not ready with your residence in France upon arrival of goods but prior to negotiating your contract with us, you never even mentioned once that you will require storage in France. If you would have insisted, we could have sent you the costs payable as per actuals from our France agent.

4. WE NEVER BLACKMAILED YOU. You were not offered delivery due to non payment by the French agent. They did not reduce the charges because you were angry but due to the fact that we informed them how unhappy you were and how valuable a client you were. It is unfair on your part to hold us responsible for actions of the French company. It was also your responsibility to pay for the demurrage charges which were not part of the moving service and were incurred due to your negligence in not accepting the delivery on time. Agreed that you never filled out a delivery address in France which means that you did not have a residence, but that would obviously mean that you should be open to pay for storage charges as you are a very well versed client and knew exactly that storage in France was not part of our service. You asked us to ship the goods immediately from US whereas you could have availed the free first month of storage in NYC as we offered you. Therefore asking for the payment of charges applicable cannot be considered as BLACKMAILING. Would you work for someone for free and never expect to be paid for services you provide? Please let us know.

5. It is very unfortunate that your furniture received some damages. We assisted you promptly for your insurance claim but you chose to opt for a $ 500 deductible coverage. Your claimed amounts were under $ 500 and therefore the insurance company rejected your claim. This could have been avoided if you would have requested a "zero" deductible coverage which was offered to you at an additional premium rate.

We still feel that you have been a very valuable client and we can overcome these misunderstandings. Our office even tried to communicate with you and provide some sort of compensation towards the damages caused to your furniture which were not reimbursed from the insurance company. We were only willing to do so due to our policy of TOTAL CUSTOMER SATISFACTION, kindly contact our office to discuss the same. We are posting this response hoping that prospective clients will read it and get to know both sides of the story. Please refer to all the quotes and contracts for further clarification.

Wishing you well,

Thank You, Earth Relocation.

Earth Relocation inc. saved me from my moving nightmare. Originally, I hired Unity Van Lines movers to help. UVL took my stuff and my money and dissapeared on me. With help of Federal Marine Commission's help I relocated my stuff. And from this point, Samir from ER took over and guided me step by step to get my stuff to destination without a hitch. He was always there for any questions and I even called on weekends and he would get back to me right away.
I would definitely recommend to all my friends and I will also use them again when I return back home.

Thanks Young,

We are very glad that we were able to assist you in the crisis situation you were. A move or succesful relocation can only happen if both client and his reocation company works hand in hand and you were an excellent example of that. You were always reveritng with documents and information on time which is very crucial.

Smooth International Move!

We used their services while moving from Jersey to Gurgaon India in July 2012. (The website did not have option to choose India for this review).   We had a 20' container, door to door service.   I have moved within US before. But this was our first international move. With 2 kids under 4 years a smooth move was more important than ever. Here is what I liked:   1. They responded promptly to my request for a quote. They were flexible enough to look at various options so I could compare costs.  Samir, our contact, was very professional and pleasant to work with.       2. They came home, did a quick and thorough ( opened all cabinets, went into details) survey.       3. Very competitive quote (We looked at 6 different companies)     4. Always respond to emails and calls, promptly.       5. Everything was clear and in writing.       6. Packers were great (Crew of 4 for a 2 bedroom condo). They arrived a little late, but it took them ~6 hours to pack and load everything. --Brought all the packing material - boxes, bubble wrap, shrink wraps, paper, crates, mirrox box, tape. --Boxes were labeled --Followed any special requests we had. --Beds, crib and tables were dismantled       7. Their partner in India end to end solutions was fantastic. Amit Sharma, our contact, kept in touch with us through the move. We were able to track our shipment online. They helped us through customs. Expecting a long wait at customs we were pleasantly surprised at how quickly it was done. They are very well networked in the office and know all the right people to get documentation and examination  done quickly.       8. Delivery happened 2 days after examination. 6 crew members who unpacked and cleaned all the debris. They actually took a broom and swept an area that was particularly messy post unpacking. --Furniture - no damage,no stains, no scratches --Beds,crib etc were assembled   --No missing items or damaged pieces (some minor issues, happens in every move)   -- No broken items, not even one glass.   --We had 2 mirrors, 2 glass on glass large picture frames, glass top coffee and side tables that we decided not to get crated, even those came without a scratch.       9. Took 8 weeks. Timeline:   Goods packed on 5 July   Left NY port on 12 July (If I remember right)   Arrived Nhava Sheva on 13 Aug   Cleared from port and put on rail, arrived in Delhi 27 Aug   Customs Examination on 31 Aug   Goods delivered on 2 Sep       It truly was a customized solution to our needs - the attention to detail, the various options they walked us through and the prompt responses to all our concerns. All very much appreciated.  .

My International move experience.

I found Earth Relocation when doing Internet searches for my move from Boston , MA to Nagpur, Maharashtra, India  Samir was the salesman I talked to. Knowing that I was researching, to begin with they had offered me a competitive price. Samir was detailed in the process of the move and had given me detailed info on what to do before the pickup date, on the pickup day and what to expect at the destination. When the move happened what I went thru was fairly close to how it was described to me.  Pre-pick: Samir and his staff were professional and had given me all the paperwork to review and sign for the move. the documentation had reasonable terms and I didn't find anything that I had to remove from the different sections  Packing & Pickup : The packers arrived ON time at 9AM. they pulled the truck thru my driveway. They brought in the packaging material and started the packing. I had taken full service. They used ample amount of packaging material and did not cut corners when packing. it took almost the whole day as they packed my 4 bedroom house and were done at 4pm. then started the loading. they were done loading all the 133 boxes into the 20" container. it was almost the right fit. If I hadn't sold my bike, maybe they could have squeezed it in too. the truck was sealed and they drove the truck away as I watched it leave my totally totally empty house (which was to be sold 2 days later) behind.  In transit: They had given me tracking information and I was able to track the shipment as the ship sailed and I noticed that the estimated date of arrival changed a little bit.  Arrival: The ship arrived at Nava-Shiva in Mumbai and I was notified that my stuff had arrived. I had contracted with them such that I would pay the detination charges once the stuff arrived. I sent them the money an they cleared the stuff thru customs for me. This process took about a week after which they loaded all the stuff in a truck and drove it to my city.  At Destination: Finally, the stuff arrived in Nagpur on a truck. I had an apartment on the 2nd (US 2nd floor) floor. The unloading team brought everything all the way up to the apartment. we were still renovating and my apartment was not ready for unpacking yet. They left all the boxes packed and stacked upon my instructions and left. I did some basic checks to make sure that the fragile items were intact.  After 2 months of the delivery our apartment was ready for unpacking. We just finished the unpacking and due to the thorough job doen during the packing process all of my stuff was in great shape. The television, music system and the glass entertainment center were all as I had handed it over to them. The sofa and luv seats were in great shape and so were the bed and many other furniture items. We just got done opening all the 133 boxes and I am pleased with the arrival of all my stuff.   I am happy that I chose "Earth Relocation" as my moving company. I would recommend this company "Any Given Sunday" for someone who is looking for an international move.

Satisfied with their service: USA - Germany.

Their services were above average as compared to my previous moves. and they seemed to know the international moving process well. Only issue was that they gave us a long window for pickup and showed up really late in the day but the movers were quick and efficient. I had minor scratches on my bedroom dresser and one desk but nothing major went wrong. The insurance company they work with got repairs approved and furniture was finally fixed after 3 months of delivery. That's all I have to say.

Thank You Alan from the bottom of our heart for expressing your positive experience with our company. It gives us great pleasure to be serving your needs. We also take your feedback seriously about the delays in furniture fixing and we are committed to improve ourselves on that front.

Low Quote to trap you. End up with a very high final price.

Worst moving experience ever! I have had 3 moves between US and Canada in the last 3 years and this was hands down the worst moving experience we encountered. The first 2 moves were a hassle like all moves usually are but I was given a service I was told I will be given for the price that was quoted. With Earth Relocation however, the price I was quoted at first was ~$1800, the price I paid was ~$4800. The amount I paid was more than the total sum of my previous 2 moves and the number of items I moved was the same (if not less) than what I moved the previous 2 times. I had to give up and pay the money because my good were held hostage with them. All attempts at trying to negotiate a lower cost were refused. Even when I offered to let go some of my stuff to reduce my cost they said that would end up costing me more if I try to dispose stuff that they were holding from me. Every step of the moving process was a nightmare. There was no explanation or no transparency on what services would be included in their initial quote. I know, part of is my fault too. I should have asked the questions. But because my previous 2 experiences were all handled so well by the movers and they were guiding me through the process I foolishly assumed Earth will do the same too. Here are some details on what additional cost I ended up paying:

1) They told me that packing service was included in my initial quote. Turns out later that as per their movers, there was a lot of packing material used so there was extra packing cost added.

2) The movers who came to pack my stuff, started packing all my furniture in boxes. I asked them to just put furniture blankets over them, to which they told me that this is a service they provide. Not even one mentioning to me that this is costing me money.

3) They do not come to review your furniture while quoting. They expect you to give them an accurate assessment on how many boxes I would need. During the quoting process the furniture I stated was the furniture I moved. In terms of the boxes I may have underestimated a few boxes. But this is where I expect them to come and review my stuff and tell me how much they would expect my stuff to be rather than expecting me to know. They are moving "experts" after all. When all was said and done, I was slapped with a higher quote stating that I had lot more stuff than quoted.

4) Earth uses a lot of other vendors to do most of their work so they don't have any control on what is going on with different phases of the move.

5) Even paying the money to them was a hassle. When I was booking earth relocation, they conveniently accepted credit card without any surcharges. But when the time to make the payment came, they again come back and say that there is a surcharge for credit card payment. Wire transfer ended up charging me extra money.

6) In my previous moves, the company that moved my stuff, accepted payment when they got the stuff to my door. They processed the payment and then moved the goods in. With earth it is like a hostage situation. They don't release your stuff till you pay them. I seriously question this. How do I trust that they would bring over my stuff after they take my money. I think it is only fair they come to my door step with the goods and take the money from me before they unload.

7) Finally, the custom clearance step also was made difficult. With my previous movers, the moving company came with me to the custom office (which you have to go anyways). They guided me there and they took all paper work they needed from me there. With earth, I had to go to their office first, pick up documents and then go to the custom office. Extra step that I had not done before.

In summary, I don't think this company has what it takes to move goods. Avoid this if you can. So much negotiation with them ended up wasting my time. The staff tries to sweet talk you but it is all a farce.

Official company response

First of all I would like to thank you for providing your feedback on Yelp. Rest assured, we at ER take all client complaints and feedbacks very seriously and we would like to explain our situation as a moving company on this medium. For any successful move, it is very important that both parties i,e, the service provider and the shipper be completely transparent with each other and provide as much information as possible to avoid any major issues. Moving is not perfect as such and any particular move involves lot of communication, logistics, planning and patience from both the parties. We have a good custom here in our company to log all conversations between the customer and our representatitve so the facts of any move can be verified by our management at a later stage if there is a particular problem in the moving process. Therefore please allow me to respond to your concerns one by one:

1) First and foremost, we verified the charges billed to you and we have found out that the packing charges were built in the chargeable volume and we never billed you for additonal packing materials or labor charges. We have an account of this so we fail to understand your claim in this point.

2) Your representative explained to you the entire moving process which includes the way we pack the furniture. Regardless, we did not charge you for packing materials as it was in the built in volume rate and you even read and signed a move day prep doc on June 12th which explained how we pack the goods. We are an International moving company and we do not use blankets for furnitures. This was also mentioned on our moving quote which you accepted so please review the same.

3) We do offer in home estimates on client's requirement, when we quoted for your move, it was also mentioned in the quote that the rate was based on items notified on the phone survey. Conducting phone survey is a very common practice in the moving industry as we use an electronic software to calacullate the volume of your goods.

4) Please note that we do operate our own crews in the tri state area and we cover MA and other locations as well under our operations and that is the reason we advertise in those states.

5) Again, your representative sent you the initial package to start your moving process where it was clearly mentioned how you could pay for ouur services and what would be the deposit amount needed. This was also explained over the phone since we do have the call log available.

6) Again, this is the most basic point that our team discusses with clients as any client would be curious to know how the payments have to be made so that they can plan their finances accordingly. We do have our payment terms clearly mentioned in our contract which was signed mutually and also we did mention to you over the phone and via emails. There were 11 emails exchanged in the span of 2 days about the payment issue. We offered 4 different payment methods and since you have moved thrice before between US and Canada, I am sure you are aware how payments can be handled to international destinations. Please check this at your end.

7) Regarding the customs clearance process, it is governed by Canadian customs and we cannot change the process. The forms for clearance have to be signed in originals and therefore we had to ask you to go to our office. This step is also very important as prople do not move daily to Canada and our courteous staff in Canada therefore calls them to the office to go over the clearance procedures in detail thereby to avoid any delays that may occur.

Bottom line is that you were provided a service and rate based on volume and you were made very well aware of this. Since you have moved in the past twice we are sure you know the difference between weight and volume. Regardless of the unit of measure, the real problem is that the goods shipped were much more than informed and that is the cause of increase of overall costs. Secondly, we did provide you for comparison purposes the weight reading which was 3900 Lbs as compared to 2000 Lbs from your previous moves. Thirdlly, you acknowledged on the pack date when our crew was present at your home that you did have much more boxes and furntiture as compared to the list provided to your representative. There were 17 pieces notified by yourselves to be moved and our crew ended up packing 43 pieces which clearly shows why the moving cost increased. And finally, since you advised the cost you received from your previous moves, it was verified by us that those quotes excluded packing materials which was not the case with Earth Relocation.
We also highly regret to read your comments above and to learn that you were not happy with our services. Being devoted to our clients we did provide you a refund and hope it was useful. Rest assured, we have shared your comments with all our move specialists for them to be even more communicative in future and take this as a good learning experience.

Serious service and good pricing,.

We moved with Earth Relocation from Rhode Island to Ireland and we took a 40 FT container. My wife was the one discussing the rates and services with their representative and they were prompt on providing the quotes in a timely manner. They sent their crew from New Jersey for 2 days and packed/loaded the pod at our house in Rhode Island. We are retiring and moving back to our home in Ireland. and we told Earth Relocation guys that we will not be moving everything from our US residence since we are keeping our US home and shall be visiting every year in summer time. Their surveyor came from New Jersey prior to us booking with them and accurately evaluated the stuff going to Ireland and thereby provided the quote. The crew was courteous and fitted everything well in the container at our residence, Goods arrived in decent condition with only one box damaged due to a little movement in the container which we are not unhappy about as it had linens inside. To summarize I would recommend using this company and will give full marks to them. Moving is not easy but they made it stress free for us at this stage of our life. Would like to thank their team, keep up the good work.

Smooth relocation experience thanks to Earth Relocation.

I hardly ever post reviews to companies because of lack of time. But, I simply had to express my upmost gratitude to the guys at Earth Relocation and share my experience with everyone. I searched around for a company to facilitate my corporate move from Vancouver to Southern California. My company gave me a limited budget to work with and I expressed that to Samir when we first spoke. He was able to meet my budget and I was even able to cover my customs costs. All in all, all of my possessions arrived safely and on-time so I am very happy.

Terrible Job, Irresponsible Management.

Earth Relocation was the US partner of the company I used to move from Copenhagen to Atlanta. The experience was so bad that I don't even call it poor. They charged me a lot for different items without providing any receipts and finally delivered bunch of broken furniture with no installation and unpacking as they were supposed to. The delivery team had very bad attitude and were intentionally damaging the furniture with their cutters. I contacted their manager, Samir, to talk to them and manage the situation, but he didn't are unlike his promise to do. Unfortunately they get their money before the delivery, so you will not have any chance to get any refund or compensation.
I do not recommend this company to anyone.

Terrible

I would highly discourage people from using Earth Relocation. They are unprofessional and have no sense of time. They provide vague answers and from reading some reviews it seems like they do it on purpose to make a few extra bucks here and there. My shipment has been in their warehouse for 3 weeks waiting delivery but they’re unable to give me a time on when it might arrive. Their answer is “soon”.

Everything they touch is damaged beyond repair

I have left a similar review with the Better Business Bureau. Earth Relocation was hired as the US partner in my international move. Many questions were asked about their capability and capacity. They gave assurances that they could meet my needs. However, every item that they packed was irreparably damaged. The final packing of many items once they arrived were atrocious. Literally 1 layer of saran wrap on fragile items. I am incredibly dismayed as these items are impossible to replace. Additionally, their numbering system was incomplete and inaccurate. Some items had question marks with numbers and some with multiple stickers which has led to missing boxes. All attempts to call them have been sent to voicemail and ignored. Their partners abroad are equally problematic. I have been trying to get a result for the last 160 days from any party involved. The quality of service, avoidance of contract terms, and their nominated insurers are incredibly poor. Furthermore, due to the incredible length of time this has been ongoing, I am unable to work with my credit card company to recoup anything.

International move from , NY to , UK

Didn't honor neither time nor volume estimate.

I would like to explain my experience in detail since I think it may help other people decide not to work with this company. Long story short: nothing got broken in the move, which is good. The rest was all bad. Following is the whole story.
On December 2013 I moved from New York City to the UK, and my new company was reimbursing some money towards my move, so I decided to take some of what I had with me.
Earth Relocation contacted me after I filled in an online form detailing the list of items to move. In that initial estimate they counted 350 cubic feet (cft), and gave me a rate of $7 per cft. On top of that was the insurance (which I declined), and some other fixed costs, which other companies had as well. They also stated that transit time was 4-6 weeks.
Four other companies contacted me, all estimating around 300 cft but with higher rates. That made me decide for Earth Relocation, since I thought that $7/cft was a good deal.
They came to my apartment to have a more detailed estimate, and then they came up to 290 cft (that was closer to the other companies), but then the rate went up to $8.25. Now if you do the math:
 350 * 7 = $2450
290 * 8.25 = $2392.50
So less than $60 difference for a 60 cft difference! I pointed out to them that this seemed funny, and after negotiating we agreed that the rate would be of $7 per cft if it was over 300 cft, and that if it was below that (say 290) then I would pay only $2100, as if it was exactly 300 cft. I fought hard for this, because it seemed that they were trying to avoid to put that in writing. At the end I had to write it myself in the contract, before signing.
They came to my place and loaded everything, the whole process didn't last too long and was quite clean. I should say that they knew what they were doing. The only thing that bothered me is that they refused to tell me how much volume they were taking.
Things changed right after this. It took them 8 days (yes, 8) to tell me what the total volume had been: they had picked up the things on the 16th of December, and I got the invoice on the 24th. And guess what: the volume had gone up, back to 346 cft! So all that discussion about the different rates was bogus: they had a price in mind (about $2400) and the rest is confusion. But it was even "better" than that: the rate was not $7 as agreed, but $8.25!
I replied asking them correct it back to $7, and also asked about what payment options did they have. It took them 20 days (from the 25th of December to January 16) and me sending them several emails to "revise" that invoice. When I sent them a credit card authorization form, they charged me an extra 4.5% because of using the credit card, without warning me (it took them about a week, and some more emails and calls, to explain me that). I could have paid by other means, but they never replied the email where I asked about other ways to pay.
The company working with them in the UK delayed my delivery by about two weeks on top of that, because according to them they could not find someone going my way (my new location is less than 2h from London). They also wanted to charge me about $100 because they claimed that my goods were scanned at the port, but I never saw an invoice and
I guess that eventually they forgot that they had told this to me. Very unprofessional looking, to the point that the phone number that they list in their email signature is wrong.
At the end, it took Earth Relocation a total of 8 weeks and one day to deliver (remember that they promised 4-6 weeks?), and they told me that the increase of volume was due to "palletizing". I asked them why don't they include this potential increase in their estimate (we don't have awkwardly shaped objects that were being sent), but they told me that they cannot do that because they cannot foresee what this change will be (so they estimate it to be 0%, I guess).
All in all, lots of hidden costs, hard to reach (when discussing this issue, at the end they refused to pick up the phone).
Oh, after all the complaining they tried to offer me a $75 refund so that I did not write a bad review. When I reported to BBB they raised it to $100. I'm afraid that it was not enough. Hopefully this helps other people!

Nightmare of my Life.

I had the worst ever moving experience with Earth Relocation when I moved from USA to India in Aug'14. Initially they were sweet enough to get my business, but then started the actual nightmare.
Night before my moving date, at 11.30pm I get to know that I have to pay $450 extra for non-availability of container! I had already agreed to pay close to $9,000(USD) for the transfer of my household goods. I had no choice than to pay as I had already booked my air tickets to India the day after and had no other option to go for any other packers.
Once I reached India,I had to follow-up for next 1.5 months just to know where my goods were and NEVER got any convincing answer!Only in 3rd week of Oct'14, I got to know that my goods had just started from USA and would reach India in Dec'14. I had to make several phone calls from India and write numerous mails to Samir and Alok to know the status, but always got inadequate replies.
It took more than 3.5 months for my goods to reach India which is normally a 6-8 weeks journey as claimed by the packers.
When the goods reached my home in India, saw several items were missing and many furniture were damaged. My 3 wardrobes came apart while unpacking as they had other heavy boxes/cartons filled inside them!! I have NEVER in my life have seen such un-professional packing of goods! Most amazing thing is that the wardrobes were initially packed empty at my residency in USA, but the packers re-packed them at the warehouse with heavy boxes.
Result - All 3 wardrobes were broken due to the heavy weight inside them !!
When I questioned Earth Relocation about this unusual and unprofessional packing, I am not getting any clear answers.
The insurance company is not willing to pay for the damages of my wardrobes as they were not professionally packed. I am now in a situation where I am suffering due to my WRONG choice of movers.e Earth Relocation and their non-committal attitude .
Recently during my ongoing Claims process, I got to know that Earth Relocation had altered my already signed insurance forms and had cut-off specific items from the inventory list( the wardrobes being one of them!) while sending the forms to the marine insurance company.
This is a clear case of BREACH OF TRUST with me and I have no other option than start a legal procedure against Earth Relocation now.
My only advice to everyone is that PLEASE AVOID THIS COMPANY(Earth Relocation) if you want your goods to reach safe and secure and you don't want to get cheated or pay huge for non-professional services from Earth Relocation!!
